Steven Klein’s Seductive Campaigns for DSquared2

Steven Klein is well known for his seductive, provocative and often controversial shoots, campaigns and styling. He’s one of the best in the industry and quite rightly, he’s worked with some of the best. Klein shot high-profile advertising campaigns for various clients including Calvin Klein, D&G, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and more. He’s also a regular contributor to the American and French Vogues, ID and Arena. Steven is also well known for his editorials in W Magazine featuring celebs like Madonna, Brad Pitt and Tom Ford. Pretty impressive!

So it’s no surprise then that DSquared2 drafted him in to shoot their underwear campaigns. With his keen eye for a hot body, sexy composition and alluring lighting, it makes him the ideal choice to shoot and show off men’s underwear. Klein plays with personas in his work, and they’re always powerful and masculine.

The advertisements includes models Travis Hanson, Ryan Bertroche, Rich Stinger and Matt Woodhouse, and features themes of voyeurism, masculine pin ups. While the images are striking, and the men undeniably akin to Greek Gods, Klein somehow still manages to ensure that the focus is ultimately on the underwear, which is a good job we guess! He impressed the bosses so much he was hired for multiple campaigns.

Steven Klein also directed a short fashion film (at the top of this post) for Dsquared2 Underwear to coincide with the campaign. The film features Matt Woodhouse, Travis Hanson and Ryan Bertroche, with art direction by Giovanni Bianco, hair by Tomo Jidai and set design by Jack Flanagan.
