#CoolBoy Of The Week- Aiden Shaw

CoolBoy Aiden Shaw

Before we begin this post, we’d like to say, we love Aiden Shaw. And we’re not talking about the Sex And The City character. This blog is going to talk about all the reasons why we love him, and we reckon you probably will too after it. Just throwing the love out there before we start. In fact, we love him so much, he’s already been featured in one of our latest posts- The Rise Of The Silver Fox Celebrity.

Aiden is a British author, musician, model and more interestingly, a former gay porn star. Originally christened Aiden Brady, he changed his last name to Shaw when he entered (excuse the pun) the porn world in the early 90s. He has appeared in over fifty films, and retired in 1999 when a car accident brought a hiatus to his porn career – for a time he was paralyzed and in a wheelchair – but he made a return with four more adult videos in 2003/2004.

Throughout his porn career, he was a bit of an oddity and stood out from the crowd of blonde men with smooth, tanned bodies. Shaw didn’t shave his chest and his tan lines became a bit of a trademark. He was of course British, which was unique in itself, although his roles didn’t usually come with much dialogue! His naturalness gained a huge following, plus it helped that he was rather largely well endowed.

Shaw has since worked in various creative roles, from being an editor of an interior design magazine, to a poet, an HIV activist (he was diagnosed HIV positive in 1997), vocalist, producer, escort, composer and writer. He undertook formal studies in film, television, photography and video and he produced two albums of music, performing lead vocals with his band “Whatever”. In 1996, he wrote his first novel and a collection of his poems were published too. He wrote two more novels in 1997 and 2001, and in 2006 ‘My Undoing’ was published. It is an autobiography in which Aiden discusses his life in the sex industry both as a porn star and sex worker, his drug use and his HIV status. Shaw completed a master’s degree in Creative Writing in 2007 at Goldsmiths University of London, followed by publication of a second autobiography, Sordid Truths in 2009. In 2011, Shaw completed training to become a qualified English teacher.

Throughout all of that, he’s had a pretty successful modelling career too! Shaw was signed to Success Models in Paris and since has found much success. He was shot by Giampaolo Sgura for Hercules International magazine, was the face of the Polish fashion company Bytom and in 2014, walked for Berluti. Shaw was featured by New Zealand menswear brand, Working Style for their Autumn Winter 2014 campaign. He also featured in Drama Magazine- you can see the video below.
